New York estate law questions

How long do I have to contest a will in New York?

New York does not give you a single six-month clock. If you were cited in the probate proceeding, you object in Surrogate’s Court before the will is admitted. If it was already admitted and you were left out, you move to vacate the decree.

The deadline is the proceeding, not a date you can look up later. People lose these cases by waiting to see what the executor does.
